Your privacy

Who we are

Student Shack Limited (company no. 05051588), 274 Wilmslow Road, Manchester, M14 6JR. We decide how your information is used, so we are the "controller" under UK data protection law, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under number ZB560183. Questions about your data: hello@studentshack.co.uk.

What we collect

• When you send our contact form: your name, email, phone number if you give it, whether you're a student, parent or other, and your message.
• When you email or WhatsApp us: whatever you send us, plus your email address or phone number.
• When you browse: anonymous visit statistics, and analytics cookies only if you say yes (see Cookies below).

We don't ask for anything sensitive on this website, and we don't sell your information to anyone.

Why we use it

• To reply to you, arrange viewings and tell you about houses you've asked about. This is in our legitimate interest, and it's a step you've asked us to take before a possible tenancy.
• To understand which pages are useful so we can improve the site. We only use analytics cookies with your consent.

Who we share it with

Only the services that help us run the website and reply to you:

• 10ninety, our lettings software. Student enquiries are added to it so we can manage viewings.
• Resend, which delivers contact-form messages to our inbox.
• Microsoft, which hosts our email.
• Vercel, which hosts this website and gives us anonymous visit counts.
• Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
• WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to message us there.

Some of these companies may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for up to two years so we can follow up and see your history if you get in touch again. Then we delete them, unless you become a tenant, in which case our tenancy records apply.

Cookies

• Your cookie choice: we remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics in your browser, so we don't keep asking.
• Google Analytics sets cookies only after you click Accept. They help us see which pages are useful.
• Visit counts: Vercel Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@studentshack.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
